aww man i was holding out for Arcade Fire, ahh well you don't go to see the support band anyway.... Please! If Arcade Fire and KOL toured together it wouldn't be Arcade Fire opening for the Kings.

britchick that doesn't exactly mean that no one else has though.
I saw the Arcade Fire at the Astoria on Monday this week and it was utterly amazing, the best gig I've ever been to.
They're playing on Jools Holland this Friday so check them out.
Can't see either supporting the other

You seem to be saying in a matter of fact way that it would be the Arcade Fire who would support the Kings, especially in the UK, and then you mention that you've hardly heard of them as a way of justifying that.
I disagree (not with the bit about you having heard of them though)

thanks! i will go and listen. chances are i have heard the song and just dont know its them. i guess what i mean is that I listen to the radio all day and watch a lot of music tv too, and i couldnt name one of their songs. so unless ive just been unlucky in having not listened at the right times, in my opinion they dont have the profile that KOL have. i dont want to have an argument about it, because obviously if you know Arcade Fire's music, and know who they are and are a fan, then you might think they were as popular in the mainstream as KOL. but i dont think so, so dont think that they would play higher on a bill. Arent they playing Reading? The Astoria is a 2000 capacity venue, which is great, but do you think they could confidently put on 3 gigs in a row at the Hammersmith Apollo (5000 capacity) and sell the same number of tickets KOL have?

To be honest I think they probably could fill the apollo 3 times in a row.
I don't listen to the radio at all, don't have any music channels on tv so I can't say what's on them but I don't think the Arcade Fire are the kind of band that will get mainstream success straight away as they're not as accessible as KoL.
KoL are probably more popular in the UK, especially as they've have a couple of albums out and have been around for a couple of years whereas the Arcade Fire debut album was only released in the UK a couple of months ago.
I just think neither band would support each other as they can headline gigs in their own right.

ok, well i understand what you are saying now. i thought you were specifically saying that if the 2 bands were playing together, KOL would have to support Arcade Fire.

I think in the UK arcade fire are probably at about the same level as interpol were a couple of months ago, in that they aren't particularly mainstream and on cd:uk every other week but can still sell out two nights at Brixton. Obviously now though interpol are becoming more well known in wider circles with top 20 singles and playing at that Radio 1 weekend thing. With both bands it's more a case of word of mouth as opposed to Record Company selling them out.
