Windows Media player series 9 is the biggest piece of crap software ever it will play using Quicktime which is a much more civilized option really Kick Windows media player to the cur it will give you nothing but pain.

A simple solution is probably to force open with internet explorer (I pressume you like that to) Right click on the file and select open with then pick internet explorer. It also opens in Reallplayer but I think earlier versions may not be compatible.I'll try and find any more players sutible but Quicktime or Realplayer really are a must have.
