but I've always thought it refered to the hand gesture much beloved in the darker recesses of music the m is the two middle fingers and the \ and the/ are the two outside fingers. This symbol is widely presumed to be a satanic gesture but has been recorded before Satanism was really inventented in both ceremonial magic and Witch craft as an invocation to the horned God.
In this context though it is refering to the stage somewhere between the waving of a lighter and moshing.
Well thats the way I see it anyhow.

THANK U! but i don't think my keyboard can do it. i've looked where u'll said but it's not there grr to my evil computer grrr Have a look around for a little programme calle Character map I think it somwhere in all versions of windows and one of its functions is to use charecters that you don't have on you're keyboard theres some weird stuff in there like did most people know that ♥ was part of the Arial typeface? (That may not work on older Macs but neither will Character map so ) Anyhow if you go to the search in the start menu it should bring up character map. You may have to use font tags on here to make it work but we can cross that bridge when we come to it .
