and hardly anyone really talks about them, so tell me when you first heard them and why you like them. 'they're so hot/cute/fuckable is not a valid response

i love this topic already i first heard the kings when someone i know had their name on msn as 'King of Leon' so i asked what the name was about and so he said download a song...and so i did. Holy Roller Novocaine. I don't really like songs when i first hear them, but loved this, and then listened to Red Morning Light i think, and loved them from there. I'm crap with words and dont know why i like them so much, but it's something to do with how their music touches me. it's not like when i hear other music, it really feels special and i know i hear it in a different way to everyone else out there (besides you lot). that's all i can say, but the kings rock my world!

[glow=red,2,300]Hello! First heard them at work when they came to do a signing, we put the album on repeat when bands sign so I heard it like 3 times in a row and was instantly hooked. Every track is brilliant and you can't stop shaking your ass for one second. I got my album signed with my mate who was really into them, had a chat with them and haven't looked back since!! They are such nice friendly guys and sorry but yes very hot too Saw them live at Brixton last year and I was gob smacked at how brilliant they were I can't wait to see them again this year. I really want to go to Glasto. I love them, they are warm!! [/glow]

I heard them on MTV2 some time last spring. It was Red Morning Light. I didn't really pay much attention at first because the girl on the video, you know the one with blonde hair and no bra? Yeah well she freaked me out But in April I think or whenever Molly's Chambers came out I absolutly loved them. I forgot all about the braless wonder and have loved them since.
I guess I love them because even tho they are meant to be part of this 'garage rock revival' or something they sound different. They also can last decades because they are one of the few bands out right now that is seriously good and not just copying others.

Oh yeah, let me just say...
I remember when i had just heard them and hadnt got the eps, that i didnt always recognise Red Morning Light when i didnt hear it from the beginning but sometimes i would be doing something else with the amp on in the back and a song would catch me, and when i looked it was always them! i loved that feeling because i knew that i really did love their music and i wasnt pretending to myself (even though i knew i wasnt)...i hope that makes sense!

I have to say that the first time that I heard them was when Red Morning Light had beenr eleased and at first I was kinda like 'riggggggggggggght', because the intro with the drums and then when Caleb comes in freaked me out (i don't know why). The more I heard it, the more I liked it and my friends found them absolutely hilarious and one day I admitted to them lthat I liked it. They were like o.O Still, anyway, when we saw them in December, my friends went to see them to laugh but in the end came out quite gobsmacked!

the kings of leon mean a lot to me [as you may have noticed by the site] anyway, i love them because even though lazy journo types think they're retro they're not. they're fresh and their music speaks to me. sorry i editted this but my spelling alone was an embarrasment

Got into them Jan 04. I used to bag on them for the way they looked and I hadn't even heard their music. My friends and I used to crack stupid stoned jokes ...saying we should get t-shirts of them on it saying 'Jesus Lives' and dumb shit like that. But the jokes on me because now I think they're rad. Still don't own the album yet.
haha sarah you're such a darl. love the pissed candour!

i got into them mid-ish last year, mebbe aug/sep? triple j (oz radio station) play them a bit, tho not as much as they should, and i remember hearing a song that i liked and hering it back announced as king's of leon, a family band from the south, usual story, i liked it but wasn't in love, cuz i hadn't paid that much attention. about a wk later i heard it announced before the song, Holy Roller Novacaine to be precise, and paid attention - I fucking LOVED it! it wasn't like alot of what i listened to, which was good, tho nothing against my other fave bands. so i got their traack listing for YAYM online, downloaded 4 misc songs (this is my official music testing process), loved all four of them and rushed out to get the album, which i listen to obsessively now. In a healthy way of course!
i instantl loved happy alone most, loved the beat, the vocals, the words (once i figured out what they were!), and the bass at the end (mmmm.... jared slapping bass), everything. Then i saw what they looked like, read the whole story (and the doubts about the story), and fell even more in love. Esp with nathan. i think i've sid that a few times on this board before tho...!
sorry bout the whole big ramble thing!, good topic!

t'was a late autumn afternoon though still stinking hot from summers last breath and nicole was running late for work as per usual. suffice to say that the lil lass was a bit on edge when the railway crossing decided to lower its beams in front of her. a quick exit down the side street was out of the question, cars were blocked and the wait was agonising. the radio was turned up to drown out the noises from other motorists and their humm wagons. that's when it happened. a bass line on the radio. a band of brothers and a cousin the announcer said. she was intrigued. the bass line drowned out their voice. it was molly in all it's glory. she was hooked and forgot all about her rail problem, lost somehwere amongst thte notes. but cheek and her tightarse nature meant that she did not buy the ep when it was released a fare few weeks later. no she spilled out her guts to local street press and scored a beautiful copy. hOLy rollin novocaine batman, king me! or so the tale goes. but she bought another copy later. she had to as she unknowingly broke the insert clip. .
bass is all u need. bass and drums. the sound grabs u and takes u away. far away to another palce where everything is different, strange and different. when she hears it, it never fails to bring a big smile. a big CHEESY smile. after all they do grill the cheese and my does it taste divine!
