u should also vote for him cos he crashes gracefully when he plays and because he turns drumming into an art form!

Haha an artform? Don't you think that's reserved for the likes of the true greats like Moon, Bonham, Fleetwood, Watts...?
Grohl and Taylor Hawkins and Matt from the Datsuns are pretty good and Ahmir/Questlove from the Roots is super talented.
But I guess I shouldn't really comment as I never really paid enough attention to the KoL's musicianship at BDO.

If u had bothered to listen to him at BDO u would have realised that!! and yeah, I guess you are right, you shouldn't really comment, not until u bother to listen anyway!!

I agree so much it hurts. Nathan is an Artist and his drumming is so good both live and on recording. So amazingly tight live that if you didn't notice it you weren't even there. Dribleing over Caleb is fine but not noticeing Nathans drrumming and yes I just voted for him.

see that's jst totally it! he's jst not a cocky twat when he plays he makes it sound really fucking EASy and like 'anyone could do it like it's not that great really' but it fucking is!! when i first got into the leon i didn't know anything at all about drums i mean zero zilch nada but i knew he was a great drummer!! and i guess that's one of the reasons why i love his drumming so much b/c it wasn't about whether i knew anything or not it was about the feeling that u get when u listen to it and sometimes when u know alot about something u forget what it is like to have that gut reaction to someones art! i don't know if that made sense but BELIEVE me he is a fucking amazing drummer! he really is.
..il go now

Total sense! He drums like a drummer should. A lot of the "greats " over do it all and start to sound like they've got the soul of guitarists *spits* not dececent down to earth rhythm making earth shakers.

hmph. dribbling indeed. you should vote for caleb because a) he is a kick ass guitar player b) he writes the majority of the music c) he has a magnificent voice AND d) he is a lovely person, inside and out. so there this is going to get sooo ugly

Haha this shit is gonna get ugly.
I guess I wasn't -there- enough. The reason I don't think I should comment is not because I wasn't listening to KoL but merely because I've only seen them once and feel like that's not justification enough for passing any sort of proper judgement.
I do agree though that the place of a drummer is to just keep the band in line and drive the band without some sort of ego or braggadocio and people like that that spring to mind are Mo Tucker and Ringo Starr. But it's so nice when a band play their instrument like they're the only people on stage. The only example I can think of in a bad where all the musicians were great musicians in their own right on their own was Led Zeppelin. They were all intense and fundamentally front men in their own right soooo supremely talented and yet it came together so brilliantly.
I dunno....I'm a bit jaded when people call something an artform or call something art because it's so wishy washy nowadays. Like I dislike when people do something like take a photo of an apple and call that art. It goes both ways I guess...whatever evokes an emotion in someone can be art.
I guess this is a portentous argument but that's the great thing about music and life - we're entitled to our own opinion.
Nathan rules? \mm/
