Why do they make you read books like that in school? There's so much better and more relevant literature from days gone by... so many English teachers have no balls or imagination.

i was given boring books to read whilst studying my A level English lit, and i must say the most boring otwo were 'the duchess of malfi' *YAWN!* and 'as you like it' *YAWN!* did get to read truman capote's 'in cold blood' though, that was good and 'a street care named desire'. blanche.

Its not really up to the english teachers though, sadly... they don't have too much of a selection to choose from... We did a Margaret Atwood novel for AS, and Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons for A2... everything else was old. not bad, just old... those two are legendary though. I must say I did like Pride and Prejudice though... probably one of the most accessible of the victorian novels... but its sweet too I'm missing being at school now actually... i can't believe I've got a year of no mental challenges coming up... dont know what i'm going to do!

I packed in English Literature owing to my unwillingness to read anything I don't reeeeeally want to. Thought it might cause me issues. School literature is stuck up its own arse. Where is 'The Virgin Suicides' on the curriculum? It's better than most of the stuff we had to read.
I have to read and write an essay on a doorstop of a book by about two weeks time for my History teacher. Marie Antoinette's biography. I'm bored already and she's only 13. It's the biggest book i've ever seen and so confusing. Although i'm developing a liking for Louis XV of France. He was a right perv and it makes me laugh.
