@jii I agree. I don't like the choir sound at all. I think its unnecessary. I see where they wanted to go with it - gospel/roots etc but its over produced. No doubt it will be absolutely kick ass live though which is all that matters.

I still wonder if the choir is actually in the single or is it just the video? I like it either way, but I don't know if it is gonna have mass "pop" appeal.

^ I didn't hear the choir in the single the way it was played on Fearne Cotton's show.

Really Erin? And Erin?
Maybe there are TWO songs. One with the choir, and one without.

I'm almost 100% positive... but... I'm currently in a rather delirious state... my housemate assures me that it was on there...

^ I didn't hear the choir in the single the way it was played on Fearne Cotton's show. Not surprising. I figured that might be the case when the choir was actually singing during the "making of" clip they had. It would have just been a track if it was part of the song. Also, I think a lyric we all seemed to expect as correct is wrong. I have seen everyone where: "And when they dance..." It actually seems to be: "And when they clash..."

Did Triple J play a different version then? Like a ripped from video version, or so?

I listened to it on Radio 1 as I was impatient but there was no point - you can't get a proper feel for a song by listening to it on radio with all the compression and effects they add, especially Radio 1.
So I checked out the video straight after and there wasn't much difference! This is a very bad thing. It means they have over produced it to give it the generic radio sound. (And bigger record labels do demand for this type of thing)
I loved the idea of a gospel choir but the producers don't pull it off. It makes a mess of the song, the vocals are everywhere. Caleb's voice is over-produced. There is a horrible amount of compression, creating the worst possible effect: "pumping". Where you can hear parts of the song moving up and down in volume quite quickly.
From the live versions of the song I had great hopes but this is just an over-produced mess.
This should have been recorded and mixed ASH style, it would have been amazing.

I'm a little disappointed in the video. Seems, I dunno, a bit too sugary and sweet?! I guess it suits the song though.

I like the video, there are a couple of parts that are cheesy but it feels very much rootsy for them and for that reason alone it makes me smile. But I have to agree Radio 1 I was a bit concerned at Caleb's voice, that man has a gift and I feel like it's been tweaked? At the moment I definitely prefer the live version, feels a bit faster to me but I do really like Radioactive.
