wow, i haven't posted in this thread before, but i've been following it ... so much has happened in a day! i must say that i'm glad i waited to see a video of the rant before i posted anything, because as some of you have said, it isn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be leaving out those key words/phrases made a huge difference in the overall meaning, i don't even think it was necessarily directed at anyone in the crowd i definitely didn't think seeing the video would be a relief, but in my eyes it is

It doesn't tell the whole story.

^ yeah, that's true ... it still sux that there was a whole negative vibe for the concert
from what i've read it just seemed to me that that was the worst of what was said/done, and since it wasn't as bad as i thought it was a little bit of a relief (if that makes any sense)
its so hard to correctly explain yourself over posts, i don't know how some of you do it!

I'd say the worst part was them saying they were "fucking sick of Kings of Leon", and all the "fuck you"'s and middle fingers.
Saying they are sick of themselves is hardly a good way to get the crowd going in their favour.

Ok, now after watching this i really believe what he did was unprofessional. Great bands don't whine onstage. No matter how drunk they are. It might be understandable if the whole crowd was booing loudly, bottling them, and yelling at them to get off. But they weren't. So what if part of the crowd was only dancing and singing along to two songs? Not the end of the world, it happens to bands allll the time. Just one example -- we went and saw My Bloody Valentine last month at the APW festival in NYC. They were absolutely brilliant, but a huge group of Tool fans (Tool were next on that stage) started booing, throwing things at the band, and basically telling them to fuck off. It was embarrassing. But did anyone in MBV stop playing and start pleading with the crowd, saying things like they understand why those Tool fans don't like shoegaze? Of course not. That's one of the things that separates a great band from all the rest. KOL (and especially Caleb) need to learn how to do this if they're serious about making that leap to the next level.

Or if they do, I don't think they'll like it up there. Metaphorically afraid of heights

Bloody hell.... how did we get back on topic??? Props to y'all Another example of media manipulation. Devious bastards, not like those nice lot at the Leinster Leader. Seems they need to be a lot firmer with everyone around them, although they've always seemed pretty in control of their *ahem* destiny.... and not do anything they feel they ought to do rather than what they want to do. It's gonna be a tricky few months I reckon.

Wait, what did you ask Jared? When we met Jared in Glasgow I said something like "Jared there are rumours going around that U2 are playing with you guys in Madison Square Garden, is it true??" He said he wished it was, then Ruth said something like "we are going to MSG to see you guys" and Baby J said something like "MSG, in Dublin?" and we said "eh, duh, no, MSG, NYC" It did give us a nice laugh for the rest of the eve

No you didn't ask him were U2 playing with them in MSG. You earlier asked him if there was any truth to the rumour that U2 were playing with them in Dublin, which he managed to answer with no slip up.
Then we just casually threw in that we were flying to New York for the MSG show and his response was: "Really? MSG in Dublin?" Bless him!

We can't have it all - talent, that jawline AND brains. That would be too much to ask.
And another topic to add to the list WOOP!

Another thing i have picked up on from the Reading aftermath is comments left on NME and YouTube etc..... Everyone seems to be saying stuff like.... "Well i was there dancing and singing along to every song and everyone around me was too..."
Well i have no idea where all these people were standing cos from the videos i saw the crowd was static. They start with Be Somebody and all you see, is a sea of heads not moving, no arms in the air, no jumping.... NOTHING. The band had just come on for christ sake !!!! At the chorus some people raise their hands...probably thought it was an upbeat version of Use Somebody. You have people saying "We weren't there to entertain them" but a live performance is a 2 way thing if the majority of the crowd aren't even excited about them coming on and prepared to give anything back then this is going to affect KOL's performance.
The other comments i keep reading which is pissing me off is " The Kaisers Chiefs, who i don't particularly like, got the crowd going for the KOL to just walk on and not say anything and just play their music...."
Wait.... what do people want to hear from Kings Of Leon? For Caleb to walk on and start telling jokes??? KOL have never been the best of speakers.... I seen them in 2005 when Caleb barely said anything to the crowd the whole set. Did it bother me? No because they rocked the place and that's all you want to do. I don't mind if some bands come out and have banter with a crowd if they are comfortable with doing it. It doesn't suit some people so i understand why Caleb doesn't do it and it doesn't bother me. Thing is he speaks a helluva lot more than he used to. That same gig, i was at the front and i have never been in such a crazy mosh pit before. That's what a KOL gig should be like at the front of the crowd for me....
Quite simply Kaiser Chiefs need all this other stuff going on because their music and live delivery isn't good enough. Putting Kaiser Chiefs on before KOL is a massive mistake anyway. Kaiser Chiefs should be playing the V Festival to a pop crowd or early on in the day in a tent. Obviously they attracted all the 'casual fans' to the main stage who then stayed to watch KOL. SO that's another thing we have to blame... the shitty KAISERS CHIEFS and their 2 brain cell fans

Yea, I hate people giving out because he doesn't talk very much on stage. He never has and probably never will, depite being more talkative in the last year or so. Are you going to hear their music live or are you going to hear him talk? The music speaks for itself anyway
